Lifespan TR5500i Treadmill Review

Overview

The LifeSpan TR5500i is the top treadmill in the company’s lineup, a feature packed cardio machine that has a lot of capability, especially given its very affordable price tag.

With easy folding, a ton of built in workouts, large cushioned deck and powerful, yet quiet motor, the TR5500i is definitely a contended in the mid-range price category.

Let’s take a closer look…

Specifications

Speed up to 13.5 mph

LifeSpan TR5500i Treadmill - Best Features

Large Runner's Deck

The TR5500i has a large belt, giving you plenty of room to stretch out during your running workouts.

At 22″ wide and 60″ long, it’s one of the roomiest treadmills you’ll find on the market today, and 2″ wider than the belt on the step down TR4000i model.

This is a great for all users, but especially taller users who may feel a bit cramped on machines with smaller footprints.

Ton of Built in Workouts

The LifeSpan TR5500i has an impressive amount of built in workout programs….43 in all, which is more than you find on most treadmills in this price range.

You get a nice mix of heart rate programs, weight management, healthy living, sports training, as well as specific program for decline training.

With so many workouts to choose from, you’ll never get bored, and this will keep you motivated to reach your fitness goals quicker. You’ll also target different muscle groups and really give yourself a good cardio workout.

Incline and Decline Capability

Rarely do you find decline capability on a residential treadmill, especially one at this price.

The LifeSpan TR5500i has 13 levels of incline and 2 levels of decline, so you can really change your training up.

Incline and decline allow you to hit different muscle groups in the leg than you would with flat training, and provide a more effective cardio workout for you.

Only NordicTrack and Sole offer decline training capability currently.

Bluetooth Tracking Capability

There’s an optional Bluetooth adapter that gives you the ability to track and share your workouts via the Active Trac app. You can then sync your results with your LifeSpan Club account, and keep tabs on your progress.

Workout tracking is extremely popular these days, as it helps keep many people motivated as they set goals for themselves, share results with family and friends, and hit milestones.

You can also use the built in USB drive for workout tracking if you don’t want to buy the Bluetooth adapter.

Note that the popular base model TR1200i is the only one currently without optional Bluetooth workout tracking.

Easy Folding and Unique Design

The 5500i comes with the company’s EZ Fold system, which means you can raise and lower the treadmill very easily. Just lift it up and fold it, and when you’re ready to use it again, just pull it down and it’s ready to go within seconds.

It also has a unique independent support system that you don’t often find, which makes the treadmill much more secure, eliminating the wobble that you sometimes get on similarly priced treadmills.

Other Great Features

The LifeSpan 5500i treadmill also comes with grip and wireless heart rate capability, a cooling fan, music port with speakers, tablet holder, step counter, a powerful 4.0 CHP motor and a 350 lb. maximum user weight capacity.
